John C Maxwell talks on Leadership

Leadership is a good mix between art and science. One of the first steps you need to take to become a leader is to work on improving yourself. The good thing is that a lot of information is available to work on ourselves and be the leaders we want to be. These are the qualities a leader should have according to John Maxwell in his book the 21 Indispensable Qualities of A Leader.

1. Character

2. Charisma

3. Commitment

4. Communication

5. Competence

6. Courage

7. Discernment

8. Focus

9. Generosity

10. Initiative

11. Listening

12. Passion

13. Positive attitude

14. Problem solving

15. Relationships

16. Responsibility

17. Security

18. Self-discipline

19. Servanthood

20. Teachability

21. Vision

What do you think? Is there anything here you don’t find? Is there any other quality you think a leader should have? Would you change one of the 21 presented here for any other? In the famous “The Leadership Challenge” Kouzes and Posner also add HONESTY as one of the most important traits or qualities that a leader should have. What’s your call?

Always reflect on the things you learn, be mindful. Be Aware, Be Alert, Be A Leader
