Skybridge....

During last economic stimulus package plan announced by our PM and also the Finance Minister, he did mentioned about the allocation of RM100M to construct pedestrian walkaways or skybridges in Kuala Lumpur area....It created debates on the issue..

Until now, we are yet to see anything being materialised ..

Public transports: [rails] in particular are become popular and popular...I'm sure that all of us are still remember the day that our former PM, Pak Lah personally 'tried' to travel via KTM komuter from Serdang station to KL...all of us still remember his remarks, comments, opinions, etc. Whatever it is, have we seen any development happened into our rail system..? [we really hope the newly extended rail line from Sentul to Batu Caves will be completed soon..We put 100% trust on them].

The main issue that I'm trying to expose here is the accessibility of the stations by the people around the station areas...

Let me start with 2 KTM stations: Salak Selatan and Serdang.

People who are staying in Bandar Sri Permaisuri should be given an easy access to the station as what is being offered by the LRT..It is so inconvenience for them to walk from Bandar Sri Permaisuri to the KTM komuter..The have to pass by the old town of Salak South..It'is a nightmare experience after the day time...Come and have a look how scary the journey is,[after 9pm...]

The Serdang station is not accessable to people who live on the other site of KL- Seremban highway.(opposite Sg Besi R & R station). A lot of potential users live there (most of them really in need for this type of public transport). Why don't the authority construct a skybridge crossing the Besraya and KL-Seremban Highway onto the Serdang KTM station...

One more place: Sri Petaling skybridge crossing the Kesas Highway to the Bkt Jalil LRT station... Make the station accessible to Sri Petaling folks too[they live on the other site of Bkt Jalil station]...the distance is just around 500 - 800meters..or just 1.5 of a par 5 in a golf course...But if you ask John Dally to hit the ball, I think he can make it.....

** Next Stations : Abdullah Hukum LRT, Bandar Tasek Selatan Intergated Public Transport Hub....

  1. Ni semua nak senang je. Belakang rumah LRT, depan komuter, nak jalan je (walking distant)...bila dah ada nanti lagi banyak komplen.

  2. Sdr Firdaus.. We are not asking the skybridges or any rail stations to be built all over the places...Just try a few and look on the impact of it [it's utilization]..It maybe one of the way to increase the usage of public transport and in the long run,it may help to reduce the traffic issue in KL.. Most of the rail stations were built in the strategic places but still lack of accessibility.. A skybridge crossing Besraya and KL Seremban Highway will attrack people from the residential area who live just opposite of the KTM station..Same goes to people in Sri Petaling..The LRT Bkt Jalil Station is just 800metres crossing the Kesas Highway.... Abdullah Hukum LRT Station is not even 1km away from Mid Valley Shoping Centre !!!....
